On saturday afternoon, march 25, 1911, a fire, breaking out in the Asch Building, near Washington Square, New York, where the Triangle Shirtwaist Co was located, caused 146 victims, most of them young ladies whose work was cutting cloth, sewing, embroidering, tucking and ironing shirts. From that tragedy stemmed  a worldwide commemoration, held on march 8, because of a mistake in reporting the news at that time. Hereunder, on the first page of my reportage on the story, appearing on nš 9 1993 of Corriere della Sera Magazine, three of the 40 italian ladies dead are mentioned: Nicolina, Lucia and Sophie.

The painting accompanying my reportage had been made by Fabian Negrin, an argentinian artist, born in 1963 and living in Milano since many years, who recently showed his last work, "La vita intorno", Life around - some 62 watercolours, used for printing a book - at Nuages showroom, via del Lauro 10, underground stop MM Cairoli, opened 14-19 pm, until 20 march; on saturday it may be visited also in the morning (10-13)

A wall of the gallery displaying part of Negrin's "La vita intorno" drawings.

The following picture - regrettably affected by a light reflection (the fourth man's head from right)  is about another Negrin's masterpiece exibited in this art gallery.
