It may happen to a hasty passer-by near Piazza del Duomo, in Milano, to stop abruptly because of the vision of a beautiful brick made campanile seemingly pointing to a precise point in the sky. The normal reaction will be for that person – whatever duty he or her would have to fulfill – to stay put, and wonder if it weren’t the case to enquire on the nature of this articraft and on the people connected to this workmanship. Hereunder, a picture which I took from the inside of Palazzo Reale.

The pictures hereunder were made with a SIGMA
SD14 by Salvatore Castrovinci. This camera, at the moment – until march 2010,
when SD15 model is
expected to appear – can be considered, because of its peculiar sensor,
the topstand camera worldwide.
As for SIGMA SD14 best quality picture statement, it may suffice to compare the campanile large
file (200 ISO) taken by Salvatore, with another sample shot by Giovanni Dall'Orto with a Canon
EOS Digital Rebel (100 ISO)
where
the brick texture is not visible.
Alas, the inside of the Church, as testified by Salvatore detailed
pictures, needs a lot of maintenance; but Milano Council hasn’t got the money,
or rather, it would have it, if Mr Silvio Berlusconi incumbent national
government wouldn’t have cut ICI - a levy on house ownership - to the affluent
society. Milano Council huge revenue drop, purportedly equivalent to one hundred
million euros, has therefore caused cuts in many social services in all the
metropolitan area. It would be then a moral duty by some of those tax exempted
wealthy persons to sponsor, cold turkey, this church interior restoration as it
often happens - there being an old legacy - in USA.
